Nedbank YouthX Awards 2023: Celebrating South Africa’s Future Leaders
Nedbank, a steadfast advocate of youth empowerment, is thrilled to announce the commencement of entries for the highly-anticipated YouthX Awards 2023. These awards, an integral part of the YouthX movement, are designed to uncover and cultivate the untapped potential of South African youth. Through mentorships, cash prizes, and more, the YouthX Awards aim to inspire, support, and recognize the next generation of leaders.
Fostering Youth Talent and Aspirations
The YouthX Awards spotlight the accomplishments of young South Africans aged 18 to 26 who are actively unleashing their potential and effecting meaningful change within their communities. Aspiring youth leaders are encouraged to submit their innovative ideas on unlocked.me, with entries accepted until midnight on October 22, 2023.
Khensani Nobanda, Group Executive of Group Marketing and Corporate Affairs at Nedbank, commented on the evolution of this year’s awards, stating, “Over the past two years, the YouthX Awards have resonated with South African youth who are driven to pursue their dreams and create positive change in their communities. We’ve witnessed the immense potential that South African youth possess, and we have expanded these awards to facilitate even greater participation.”
A Celebration of Youth Achievement
To ensure that the YouthX Awards genuinely celebrate youth achievement, nominations are open to the public, and a distinguished panel of judges will evaluate each submission. Winners will be selected based on their remarkable contributions, innovative thinking, and the impact they’ve made in their respective fields. Among the final 10 nominees, the top four winners will share a prize pool of R245,000, comprising financial advisory support, tech bundles, and access to a mentorship program. The overall winner will be awarded a curated experience valued at R125,000, in alignment with their winning idea.
The YouthX initiative underscores Nedbank’s unwavering commitment to nurturing the talent, aspirations, and careers of South African youth. Past recipients of the Changemaker of the Year Award, such as Keitumetse Pule (2021) and Ziyanda Dludla (2022), exemplify the transformative impact of YouthX on the lives of young South Africans.

YouthX: Nurturing Youth Potential
The YouthX initiative encompasses various initiatives, including YouthX Live events, the YouthX Awards, and YX23, all rooted in Nedbank’s mission to provide financial education and opportunities to young people.
The winners of the YouthX Awards will be officially announced during the annual YX23 event on November 18, 2023, hosted at Constitution Hill. YX23 represents the pinnacle of the YouthX journey, offering an immersive experience filled with inspiration, thought-provoking discussions, and interactions with youth-owned brands. This event serves as an elevated version of the YouthX Summit, celebrating the aspirations and contributions of the youth to society.
