Big Brother Mzansi Season 7: Start Date, Latest News & Everything We Know So Far
Quick answer: Mzansi Magic has not yet announced an official start date for Big Brother Mzansi Season 7. Based on the last three seasons — which have all launched in the second week of January — Season 7 is expected to premiere around early-to-mid January 2027, most likely preceded by a reunion or “redemption” special in December 2026. This page will be updated the moment an official date is confirmed.
Is Big Brother Mzansi Currently Airing?
Not right now. The most recent season — Season 6: Bazozwa — ran from 11 January 2026 to 22 March 2026 and has already crowned a winner. There is no live season of Big Brother Mzansi airing on DStv or Mzansi Magic at the moment, which is why searches for “Big Brother Mzansi 2026” and “Season 7” are both spiking — fans are looking ahead to the next launch.
When Is Big Brother Mzansi Season 7 Expected to Start?
Mzansi Magic hasn’t confirmed a date, but the show has settled into a consistent yearly pattern:
| Season | Launch Date |
|---|---|
| Season 4 (S’ya Mosha) | 21 January 2024 |
| Season 5 (Umlilo) | 12 January 2025 |
| Season 6 (Bazozwa) | 11 January 2026 |
| Season 7 | Expected early-to-mid January 2027 (unconfirmed) |
Going by that rhythm, expect:
- Casting calls / auditions: typically open several months ahead, historically around mid-to-late year
- Reunion or “Redeemed” special: usually mid-December, featuring alumni from recent seasons
- Main launch: first or second Sunday of January, live on Mzansi Magic at 18:00
What to Watch For Before the Announcement
- Official confirmation from MultiChoice/Mzansi Magic, usually via a press release and their DStv news page
- Casting announcements on Mzansi Magic’s social channels and the DStv app
- A theme name reveal — every season has had a subtitle (Beke Le Beke, S’ya Mosha, Umlilo, Bazozwa)
- Host confirmation — Smash Afrika has hosted the last two seasons; whether he returns for Season 7 hasn’t been confirmed
Season 6 (Bazozwa) Recap: What Happened Last Season
For context on where the show left off:
- Started: 11 January 2026
- Ended: 22 March 2026 (71 days)
- Housemates: 23, including four former housemates brought back through a public “Redeemed” vote
- Host: Smash Afrika
- Winner: Liema Pantsi, a student, bartender and musician from King William’s Town
- Runner-up: Thandeka Tshabalala, a bookkeeper from Durban

The season’s pre-launch “Redeemed” vote — where viewers picked four alumni from a shortlist of seven to re-enter the house — proved popular enough that a similar format could return for Season 7.
