About BoomFriday
Every Friday, BoomFriday flips the script and dives deep into the sonic underworld.
More than just a party, BoomFriday is a weekly musical experience — an open platform where South Africa’s underground, backroom and unfiltered DJs get the opportunity to step into the light and showcase their selections, stories and sound.
The series celebrates raw energy, crate-digging culture and independent DJ culture, creating space for selectors who care about the music as much as the atmosphere around it.
Expect everything from deep house, house and dub techno to Amapiano flips, baile funk, alt-rap and unexpected sounds brought straight from the backrooms of the city and the front lines of DJs’ playlists.
We look for talent that may fly below the radar but leaves a lasting impression. Every episode brings a different flavour, a different voice and another perspective on how music can feel when the bass is heavy, the crowd is close and the booth feels like home.
Whether you’re a music head searching for rare cuts or simply looking for something to get lost in, BoomFriday is about reconnecting with sound without the ego, algorithms or pretence.
Just selectors, music and heavy vibes.
