Dee Koala’s 4 The Khaltsha Celebrates 5th Anniversary with Opulence, Culture & Music
Dee Koala’s 4 The Khaltsha Celebrates 5th Anniversary
Cape Town is preparing for a cultural takeover as 4 The Khaltsha, the signature event by award-winning rapper Dee Koala, marks its 5th anniversary this September. What started as a homegrown celebration of Khayelitsha’s talent has now evolved into a powerful three-day cultural experience that blends street culture, fashion, storytelling, and bold musical expression.
Set to run from 26 to 28 September 2025, this year’s edition promises to be the most theatrical and ambitious yet, with an expanded program including film screenings, exclusive merchandise pop-ups, and a main stage lineup set to light up Cape Town’s Star Theatre.
The Rise of 4 The Khaltsha
Launched by Dee Koala—a fierce voice from Khayelitsha—the 4 The Khaltsha brand was born out of a need to represent and amplify Cape Town’s often-overlooked township talent. Over the years, the event has grown into a symbol of creative pride, pushing boundaries across music, fashion, and youth culture.
With every edition, Dee Koala has used the platform not just to perform, but to create space for storytelling, collaboration, and the celebration of what it means to be from “The Khaltsha.”
This Year’s Theme: Street Culture Meets Opulence
For the 5th anniversary, the event is taking a bolder, more refined turn. Dee Koala’s vision for 2025 is to marry grit and glam—representing the raw energy of the streets while embracing the luxury that young artists now aspire to.
This year’s aesthetic is inspired by urban royalty, spotlighting designer fashion, stylized visuals, and high-production performances without losing the authenticity of the community.
“It’s about celebrating where we come from, and showing how far we can go,” Dee Koala says. “We’re putting the township on the global stage, without changing who we are.”

In an industry often dominated by Johannesburg, this event proves that Cape Town’s creative scene is just as fierce, rich, and influential.
