What Time Does ICEMAN Drop in South Africa?
The highly anticipated album ICEMAN will be released at midnight Eastern Time (ET) in the United States on May 15 . For South African fans, that translates to:
| Location | Release Time | Date |
|---|---|---|
| South Africa (SAST) | 6:00 AM | Friday, May 15, 2026 |
Yes, you read that correctly. 6:00 AM SAST. That means an early morning for local fans – but given the magnitude of this release (three albums!), many will be waking up early to stream immediately [citation:3].
Why the Early Morning Release?
The album drops at midnight Eastern Time (ET) in the United States [citation:2][citation:7]. Because South Africa is 6 hours ahead of ET during daylight saving time, the release lands at 6:00 AM SAST on Friday morning [citation:3].
This timing aligns with the global “midnight release” strategy used by most major artists – but for SA fans, it’s an early breakfast listen.
BUT WAIT: DRAKE IS DROPPING THREE ALBUMS
In a surprise announcement at the end of the ICEMAN Episode 4 livestream, Drake revealed that three albums will be released at the same time [citation:1][citation:4][citation:9]:
- ICEMAN – The highly anticipated follow-up to the Kendrick Lamar battle
- HABIBTI – Arabic for “my beloved,” likely the R&B counterpart
- MAID OF HONOUR – The mysterious third project
According to HotNewHipHop, the release order is expected to be Habibti first, followed by Maid of Honour, and lastly ICEMAN [citation:1].

What We Know About ICEMAN
ICEMAN is Drake’s first solo album since For All The Dogs (2023) and follows his 2025 collaborative project with PartyNextDoor [citation:7]. The rollout has been one of the most unique in hip-hop history, featuring a 25-foot ice sculpture in a Toronto parking lot containing the release date.
The album marks Drake’s return following his highly publicized rap battle with Kendrick Lamar and is expected to be bar-heavy, with several collaborators teasing that the album features “mostly bars and much less singing”.
What We Know About HABIBTI and MAID OF HONOUR
Very little has been officially confirmed about the two surprise albums. However:
- HABIBTI (Arabic for “my beloved” or “my love”) is expected to be the R&B-focused project – reminiscent of Take Care or Honestly, Nevermind.
- MAID OF HONOUR remains the most mysterious of the three. The title could reference a wedding theme, a personal story, or a conceptual project.
Set Your Alarms, South Africa
The release order reportedly starts with Habibti, followed by Maid of Honour, and lastly ICEMAN . All three albums will be available by 6:00 AM SAST.
