Kind Kid x Archive: Nostalgia Brought to Life at Archive’s First Thursday

Discover Sanele Qwabe’s Latest Art and Collectibles at Archive’s A/W25 Launch

Cape Town, South Africa – For the second edition of the Archive Artist Project, Archive announces an exhibition featuring the visionary work of South African artist and toy-maker Sanele Qwab, celebrating nostalgia and cultural storytelling. This special exhibition will also mark the launch of Archive’s A/W25 collection, ‘Imagination Meets Creation,’ during the Archive’s First Thursday event on 6 March 2025 at their Bree Street, Cape Town, flagship.

The evening will be an engaging art and fashion experience for attendees, including a panel discussion with Sanele, where he will share insights on his work, nostalgia for play, and advice for aspiring artists. The exclusive A/W25 collection and Kind Kid collectables will be available for purchase on the night of the event.

Sanele shared his thoughts on how nostalgia influences the way people connect with his art, and how culture and fashion shape those memories,

“Nostalgia, to me, is a gateway that connects moments across time. It invites reflection on how a sound, a place, or an object can act as a time capsule, offering a vivid experience of the past. Much like how a particular fashion choice can symbolise a specific chapter in life, these sensory triggers allow us to relive, reconnect, and rediscover who we were in those fleeting moments. Reliving nostalgia not only lets us reconnect with our own history, but it also offers those who care about us a glimpse into how we grew up. In this way, these moments have a way of forcing the child within us to surface, reminding us of our roots and how far we’ve come.”

Archive A/W25 ‘Imagination Meets Creation’

Archive presents its AW/25 campaign and collection titled ‘Imagination Meets Creation’ starring Sanele Qwabe from Kind Kid, launching on 6 March 2025. Drawing inspiration from timeless classic silhouettes and blending them with updated paisley prints, the collection is intended to be a playful take on everyday essential ready-to-wear pieces. This release will also include four limited-edition toys exclusively designed by Kind Kid and inspired by the collection’s colour Pantone, which will be released alongside the apparel.

The in-store experience at Archive’s Cape Town location will include:

  • A life-size Kind Kid figure providing a striking centerpiece for visitors.
