MOSCOW FASHION WEEK KICKS OFF WITH EMERGING VOICES

MOSCOW FASHION WEEK KICKS OFF WITH EMERGING VOICES

MOSCOW FASHION WEEK KICKS OFF WITH EMERGING VOICES

Johannesburg, South Africa | Friday, 13th March 2026 – Moscow Fashion Week, taking place from 14 – 19 March in Moscow, concludes the global fashion season and showcases the key directions shaping today’s dynamic industry. One of these trends is the growing interest in emerging designers, already noticeable at other European fashion weeks and especially visible in Moscow.

Emerging labels appear alongside well-established brands, giving promising designers the chance to present their work and enrich contemporary fashion with fresh ideas.

International media and guests at Moscow Fashion Week are paying close attention to standout names like Viva Vox, known for its signature prints, abundant use of leather and fur, and bold experiments with tailoring; Solangel, whose jumpsuits are chosen by Jennifer Lopez for her performances; and Julia Dalakian, whose brand has been active in both European and American markets since its launch, has showcased collections in Düsseldorf, Berlin, Milan, and New York.

Fashion discoveries also come from new participants, selected from more than a thousand applications from Russia and abroad. The program features over 200 brands, highlighting the creative strength of Russian fashion.

The potential of Russian fashion is also highly valued by international experts, including Mahlet Teklemariam, Founder Hub of Africa Fashion Week: “What impressed me most was the remarkable diversity among the designers. Each brand presented a distinct creative identity, yet the overall standard of craftsmanship and presentation was consistently strong. The collections were thoughtfully constructed, visually compelling, and clearly reflected a deep level of design maturity. There was a sense of confidence in the work, from tailoring to fabric choices, that made the showcases feel both elevated and intentional.”

Stephen Manzini, Founder and CEO Soweto Fashion Week & SA Fashion Association says “I think both Johannesburg and Moscow share a strong sense of identity. Designers in both cities are driven by passion, they tell stories through fabric, culture, and emotion. There’s also this hunger to be seen, to redefine how the world perceives fashion from our regions. Moscow’s style feels powerful yet elegant,  there’s confidence in how people present themselves”

The Moscow runway also welcomes international labels. Designers from the African region, including South Africa and Ethiopia, frequently take part in Moscow Fashion Week. This season, brands from China, Spain, Turkey, and other countries arrive in Moscow, helping them expand their international presence, as the global fashion community closely follows what happens at MFW.

For example, the renowned Turkish designer Emre Erdemoğlu presents a collection in Moscow once again, noting: “Moscow Fashion Week provided an international platform to present my design philosophy and narrative-driven approach, allowing the brand to reach a wider audience beyond Turkey. This participation strengthened the brand’s visibility in global fashion circles and created new opportunities for collaborations and media coverage.”

Russian designers also show interest in entering international markets, and the exchange program between Moscow Fashion Week and international industry associations plays an important role in this process. In January this year, the brand Ermilov made a successful debut at the Hub of Africa Fashion Week in Ethiopia. Prior to that, runway shows by talented Russian labels became highlights at major fashion events in South Africa, China, Spain, India, and other countries. Such interaction allows local designers, especially those from developing regions, to draw inspiration from other cultures and increase their recognition.

For everyone interested in contemporary fashion, it offers the opportunity to discover new names and broaden their fashion horizons.
