Johannesburg 04 March – Onset Music Group, a remarkably talented group hailing from Tembisa, is making a name for themselves in the music industry with their powerful vocal talents and heartfelt performances. Known for their TikTok fame, the group has won the hearts of many South Africans, not only with their latest single, ‘Voicenote’ & Touching, but also with a moving tribute to the late rapper and cultural icon, Ricky Rick.
The group, consisting of Thulani Makhoba, Simphiwe Hlakuva, Lesedi Maphakela, Carol Malobola, and Neo Msibi, captivated listeners with an emotional acapella rendition of Ricky Rick’s hits during an interview on 5 FM, in the presence of his mother Louisa Zondo and wife Bianca Naidoo. “It was an honor to pay tribute to Makhado, whose music we grew up with and whose love for the youth was unwavering,” says group leader Thulani Makhoba.

Riding high on the success of their viral TikTok video performing “Amaphupho”, Onset Music Group is expanding their reach globally.
