PUMA Athletes Smash Half Marathon Records in Berlin
Cape Town, 30 March – PUMA athletes delivered outstanding performances at the Berlin Half Marathon, with multiple record-breaking runs highlighting the brand’s dominance in elite road racing.
Amanal Petros Breaks National Record
German long-distance runner Amanal Petros made history on home soil, setting a new personal best and breaking his national record. Petros finished in third place with an impressive time of 59:22, shaving nine seconds off his previous best from 2025.
Competing in the FAST-R NITRO™ Elite 3, PUMA’s elite race-day shoe, Petros delivered the performance of his career.
“What a feeling. It felt like everything that I have been working towards over the last year with PUMA – and in my recent training programme in Kenya – paid off on the course today. I’m very happy with my performance, and this just makes me even more determined for success at the London Marathon next month,” said Petros.

Strong Performances in the Women’s Race
There was more success for PUMA in the women’s race, with both Esther Pfeiffer and Chloe Herbiet achieving new personal bests.
Pfeiffer, a four-time national half marathon champion, finished 5th in 67:25, improving her previous record by three seconds.
Meanwhile, Herbiet delivered an exceptional performance, cutting more than two and a half minutes off her previous best to set a new national record with a time of 67:32.
“I came into today feeling confident after a really strong period of training with the PUMA Elite Running Team in North Carolina recently, but that maybe even exceeded my own expectations. To hit such a big personal best and set a new national record feels amazing – and I hope that this is just the start of a huge year for me,” said Herbiet.
FAST-R NITRO™ Elite 3 Continues to Deliver
The record-breaking performances add to a growing list of achievements by athletes wearing the FAST-R NITRO™ Elite 3, widely regarded as PUMA’s fastest racing shoe to date.
PUMA’s elite running roster continues to set new standards in global competition, featuring top athletes such as Fiona O’Keeffe and Rory Linkletter.
Looking Ahead to the London Marathon
Following his standout performance in Berlin, Petros now turns his focus to the London Marathon 2026, where he will aim for a podium finish and continue his impressive run of form.
With momentum building and multiple athletes reaching peak performance levels, PUMA looks set for another dominant year in global road racing.
