SOUTH AFRICAN STARS JOIN THE PUMA FAMILY
Cape Town, South Africa, 3 March 2025 – SOUTH AFRICAN STARS JOIN THE PUMA FAMILY A sparkling collection of five stars who excel in
women’s and men’s sports have joined the PUMA South Africa family. In addition, two Rugby
World Cup winners have renewed their deals with the global sports brand.
Footballer Patrick “Tito” Maswanganyi and his Bafana teammate Rushwin Dortley have both
signed with PUMA, as have Spar Protea netballers Karla Pretorius and Kamo Maseko. While
Springbok Jakkie Cilliers adds to PUMA South Africa’s rugby family, where she joins the likes of
Springboks Canan Moodie and Elrigh Louw who have announced the extension of their deals.

Regarded as one of the best midfielders in South Africa, 26-year-old Maswanganyi plays for
Bafana and his club Orlando Pirates. “I have joined the PUMA Family because the brand has
given me an amazing opportunity to enhance my personal performance and capabilities. The
brand’s commitment to cutting-edge technology and design matches my values, goals and
ambitions. I’m excited to represent a brand that thrives to push me to be better.”
Kaizer Chiefs defender Dortley said: “I signed with PUMA because it has a rich football history
having been associated with legendary players like Pele, Maradona, and Jomo Sono. Off the
pitch, PUMA’s stylish designs make it an appealing choice for me as a footballer looking for a
fashionable partner.”
Pretorius, who has competed at three Netball World Cups, is one of only five Spar Proteas
players to have played more than 100 games for the national team. Of the brand partnership,
Pretorius said: “PUMA has a rich history of partnering with top athletes and delivering
innovative, high-quality gear. Their commitment to excellence aligns with my values, and I’m
excited to be part of such a prestigious brand.”
Soweto-born Maseko, who grew up wearing PUMA, has already earned 18 caps for the Spar
Proteas. “I love PUMA as they are inclusive to athletes of all races, gender and religion. I also
find it reassuring that they continuously improve their netball products based on our feedback.
My shoes are my special weapon, and they are comfortable and light, making it easier to jump
and change direction.” Rugby star Cilliers has earned 16 Springbok caps and was named the 2024 Bulls Daisies
Players of the Year. Recognised for her utility, the 24-year-old plays centre, wing and flyhalf.
Cilliers enjoys kicking for poles and welcomes the pressure of lining up a potential match-
winning kick.
Moodie said he was grateful to renew his partnership with PUMA: “They have been with me
from the start; I played in PUMA boots when I made my senior Bulls debut and my Springbok
debut. I love the brand both for the comfortable and vibrant rugby boots, and for the lifestyle
