The South African Style Awards 2022 - Colour My World

“The world is our canvas and we can colour it in a thousand different ways.”

The South African Style Awards commemorates its twenty-fifth instalment; and in the spirit of the global shift and evolution that has transpired over the last eighteen months, as an industry stalwart, The South African Style Awards has evolved too, partnering with Peroni Nastro Azzurro to elevate the platform that has always honoured individuals across various industries.

As much as the The South African Style Awards has pivoted in its format and celebration style, it will always remain anchored in celebrating those who have not only made an indelible mark on local soil, but who have become powerful vehicles for change around the world.

People are changing the way that they think, the way they work and the way they choose to show up in the world, and as one of the most revered events on the South African calendar, The South African Style Awards has taken in the colours of the world, over the last twenty-five years, to bring about a shift in the palette of the platform in 2022 and beyond.

The South African Style Awards was celebrated with an intimate judges dinner, hosted by Peroni Nastro Azzurro, in the heart of Hyde Park last night.

“We decided to disrupt things a little,” says owner and convenor Jillian Grogor commencing with artful Aperitivo in the Zebra Square Gallery, guests were elevated to the Southern Sun, Hyde Park Hotel pool deck, where they experienced a stylish, socially distanced candlelit dinner, painted with the vibrant palette of past winners, judges, friends of the brand and esteemed members of the media. Hosted by Media Personality, Taryn Louch, with a colourful insert from celebrated Fashion Designer, Gert-Johan Coetzee, guests enjoyed an Italian inspired menu and danced the night away to the sounds of Lalla Hirayama and Naked DJ on the decks and Peroni Nastro Azzurro bottles in hand.

Guests included the honourable Minister of Justice and Correctional Services, Ronald Lamola, Lira, Boity, Mampho Brescia, Terry Pheto, newlyweds Tamaryn Green and Ze Nxumalo, Leeann Liebenberg and Nicky van der Walt, Aspasia Karras, Thebe Magugu, Johanna Mukoki, Vicky Crease, Kim Jayde and Tshepi Vundla, to name a few.

Just as the platform has evolved, so too has the mechanism of nomination and judging, and esteemed sponsors and judges nominated the individuals they feel are changing the shape and shade of the future, with a secret ballads across eleven categories, uniting in a global search for South Africa’s most stylish innovators, creators and contributors.

Judges were encouraged to nominate individuals who they believe have evolved creatively as the landscape has changed, fuelled by their need and want to colour the world their way. They certainly had their work cut out for them.

From young South Africans forging their African footprint abroad, to professionals pioneering colourful ideas; from brilliant creative minds using their passion to paint their dreams, to fearless females who are changing the business landscape across major South African markets: The South African Style Awards celebrates style and business innovators, who continue to elevate the benchmark for ingenuity, excellence and innovation.

Now that the ballads are in, after a period of deliberation, the twenty-fifth instalment of The South African Style Awards will be celebrated with a colourful affair in February 2022.
