Vans and Sportscene Go Off The Wall with Music, Art and Creativity at Sandton City

Vans and Sportscene Go Off The Wall with Music, Art and Creativity at Sandton City

(Johannesburg, 03 July 2026) – It’s not every day you walk into a shopping centre and hear Muzi live while someone gets their Vans customised a few metres away. Then again, Sportscene Goes Off the Wall was built to challenge the idea of what a retail event could be.

Designed as a live extension of Vans’ Authentically Forward campaign, the one-night-only experience transformed the Sportscene Sandton City store into a creative playground where music, style, art and community came together to celebrate everything the Vans Authentic has stood for over the past 60 years: self-expression, creativity and individuality.

Vans and Sportscene brought Sportscene Goes Off the Wall to Sandton City, blending live music, sneaker customisation, art and youth culture with performances from Muzi, K.Keed, Club Valley and more.

Style was central to the experience, with guests embracing the Authentically Forward mindset through the way they showed up. From carefully considered looks to customised Vans and bold beauty choices, the crowd reflected the brand’s belief that personal style is built through individuality.

Every element of the experience encouraged guests to make their mark. Artist Tiisetso Molobi led live Vans sneaker customisation sessions, turning each pair into a one-of-a-kind expression of its wearer. Senpai Nails extended that same creative energy with Vans-inspired nail art, while catering from &Fries kept guests fueled throughout the evening.

Here, creativity was woven deeply into the DNA of the night. Each environment drew on Vans’ music heritage through references to the brand’s iconic 1966 House, creating a one-of-a-kind space that blurred the lines between retail, art and live culture.

Guests experienced performances from some of South Africa’s most exciting artists, including Muzi, Club Valley, K.Keed, alongside DJ sets from Slow Poison and Baby Whitz. Muzi’s interactive performance dissolved the line between performer and audience, while Club Valley’s set offered a glimpse of what’s to come for the brand in the coming season.

Celebrating 60 Years of the Authentic

Since its introduction in 1966, the Vans Authentic has become an icon because every generation has made it their own.

The Authentically Forward campaign celebrates that legacy by spotlighting creators who express themselves unapologetically, and Sportscene Goes Off The Wall brought that philosophy into the real world.

As the brand continues to evolve the Authentically Forward campaign, the experience highlighted the creative communities shaping the future of the Authentic while honouring the culture that has always defined it. Off The Wall is a mindset more than a campaign, and it’s built by the people who wear the brand and make it their own every day.
