LORDKEZ ANNOUNCES DEBUT ALBUM TESTAMENT WITH FEATURES FROM LONG-TIME COLLABORATORS AND DREAMVILLE’S BAS
South African R&B sensation lordkez is poised to make her mark on the international music scene with the highly anticipated release of her debut album, "Testament." This body of work solidifies her position as a rising star in the industry, following a string of extraordinary achievements that include a billboard appearance in New York Times Square and impressive streaming numbers on previous releases such as the "Rain" single, Charcotta EP, and Midsummer EP.
Supported by a comprehensive year-long promotional campaign from her label STAY LOW throughout 2023, lordkez is set to captivate audiences worldwide with her unique sound and powerful storytelling. "Testament" promises to be the breakthrough album that showcases her exceptional talent and cements her status as an artist to watch.
The album's first single, "Holy Matrimony'' released on April 28, offers listeners an intimate glimpse into the experience of real and enduring love. Set against a sultry YZDSL production, lordkez effortlessly paints a vivid picture through her music. When discussing the single, she expressed, "I try to paint pictures with my music, and 'Holy Matrimony' might be one of my personal favourite paintings that I have ever made."
Following the success of "Holy Matrimony," lordkez released her second single, "Flowers," on May 11. Teaming up with her long-time collaborator Mars Baby, she explores the themes of acceptance and rejection and the journey of overcoming them. Reflecting on the inspiration behind the track, lordkez shared, "I was inspired to write about validation and how we, as people, but especially creatives, always find ourselves in a constant internal battle caused by this idea of being validated and getting your flowers."
With the upcoming release of "Testament" on June 2, lordkez is now shifting the spotlight to her collaboration with Bas, a renowned artist signed to Dreamville/Interscope, on the captivating single "Enthralled." Describing the essence of the track, lordkez explains, "There is nothing more beautiful than vulnerability and honest conversations. That is what 'Enthralled' captures—the energy between two people that love each other and are brave enough to say it and own it." She expresses her gratitude to Bas and his team, stating, "This song means a lot to me, and I am forever grateful to Bas and his team for this."
