The Sea Point Promenade Photography Competition 2026 is officially open, giving South African photographers the chance to take their work from the screen to one of Cape Town’s most iconic public spaces.
Now entering its seventh edition, the ORMS x Canon Promenade Exhibition returns with a new theme, The Art of Photography, and R100,000 in prizes up for grabs.
Twenty winning photographs will ultimately be selected for a large-scale outdoor exhibition along the Sea Point Promenade, turning the popular Cape Town landmark into an open-air celebration of South African photography.

What Is the Sea Point Promenade Photography Competition?
The ORMS x Canon Promenade Exhibition has spent the past six years bringing photography out of traditional gallery spaces and into the public landscape.
Rather than restricting the exhibition to people who visit a gallery, the project places large-scale photographic works along the Sea Point Promenade, allowing thousands of locals and visitors to encounter the images while moving through one of Cape Town’s best-known public spaces.
The previous six exhibitions have explored different areas of photography, including birds, wildlife, movement, landscapes, macro and black-and-white photography.
The seventh edition takes a broader approach.
This year’s theme asks photographers to explore The Art of Photography.

20 Photographs Will Be Exhibited on Sea Point Promenade
Twenty photographs will be selected to leave the digital screen and become large-scale artworks along the Sea Point Promenade.
The works will be enlarged to A0 size, creating an outdoor exhibition featuring 20 different photographic perspectives.
For the selected photographers, it means their work can be experienced outside the traditional gallery environment.
For people walking, running or spending time along the promenade, it offers the chance to discover South African photography in an unexpected setting.
Who Can Enter the Photography Competition?
The competition is aimed at South African photographers looking to have their work showcased publicly.
There is no restriction to one particular photographic genre.
Your entry can be portraiture, landscape, architecture, conceptual work, abstract photography, still life or another creative interpretation of the theme.
The strongest submissions should demonstrate a clear artistic intention and a distinctive way of seeing.
How to Enter the Sea Point Promenade Photography Competition
Entries are submitted online through the competition’s official submission form.
You can enter up to five images at a time, and entries are unlimited, meaning photographers can submit multiple batches.
The competition requires:
- Landscape-format images only
- JPEG files
- Maximum 5MB per image
If you are selected as a finalist, you will be contacted using the email address provided during submission.
Finalists will then be asked to provide high-resolution TIFF files for the large-format exhibition prints.
