Woolworths opens four new retail experiences at Sandton Gate precinct

Shoppers and visitors to the newly developed Sandton Gate precinct can now enjoy four new retail experiences from Woolworths, including a Food Market, the fashion-focused Woolworths EDIT, a WCafé and WCellar, the brand’s standalone wine, spirits and beer destination.

Situated along the banks of Johannesburg’s longest flowing spring, the precinct has been designed as a green, mixed-use space that integrates retail, work and lifestyle. Sandton Gate incorporates walkable pathways, revitalised river edges and green building initiatives aimed at reducing environmental impact, while at the same time connecting people to nature and urban convenience.

Woolworths’ presence in the precinct reflects the development’s focus on lifestyle and convenience, bringing together food, fashion, a premium drinks offering and a relaxed café experience all in one location.

The Woolworths Food Market introduces a premium food offering to the precinct, featuring a serviced butcher counter with tasting opportunities and a bakery with patisserie selection. The store also offers a range of ready-to-eat meals from the Woolworths Kitchen, including chicken combos, pies and puffs, sandwiches, wraps and bagels, catering to busy professionals and residents in the area.

Alongside the Food Market, the precinct is also home to WCellar, the drinks destination for discerning customers who appreciate value, quality and an elevated shopping experience. The space offers a carefully curated range of local and international wines, beers and premium spirits, perfect for every occasion.

Complimenting the food offering is Woolworths EDIT which introduces a more curated fashion retail concept. The store features a lighter, more open shopfront and offers customers edited collections of Woolies fashion. The Woolworths Edit store has been designed to focus firmly on product, using minimal fixtures, lighter flooring and carefully directed lighting. Eco mannequins made from natural fibre-reinforced polymers are also incorporated into the store design, combining sustainability with sculptural form.

Completing the shopping offering is WCafé, providing customers with a relaxed space to pause, connect and enjoy thoughtfully crafted food and beverages. The café serves dishes made from Woolworths’ quality ingredients, including free-range eggs, chicken and beef. Guests can enjoy freshly baked cakes made daily with the finest ingredients, while the menu features a vibrant selection of seasonal offerings. Complementing the food, WCafé serves 100% African organic coffee, made with locally roasted beans for a rich, full flavoured experience.

With its blend of retail, nature and thoughtfully connected spaces, Sandton Gate offers a fresh urban destination where people can shop, work and unwind, with Woolworths bringing its signature quality and lifestyle experiences to the precinct.
