Zakes Bantwini Reimagines the After-Work Ritual
Office Politics and Corona’s Living Is Calling philosophy come together to reimagine where the working day ends – and living begins.
Grammy Award-winning artist Zakes Bantwini is taking on one of modern working life’s most familiar tensions: when does work actually end? Through the new collaboration, Bantwini’s Office Politics platform saw two workplaces transformed into sunset experiences in August, using music, culture and human connection to turn the end of the working day into the beginning of something worth looking forward to.
The first saw South African Breweries’ offices transformed into an immersive Corona Sunsets Edition experience, and the second brought the experience into the world of music itself, as Universal Music Group hosted an after-work session.
Together, the two experiences brought the global Living Is Calling philosophy into spaces where the boundaries between work and life are often most blurred, creating a new kind of end-of-day ritual designed to help people reconnect with the moments that make life meaningful.
There was a time when leaving the office meant leaving work behind. Today, the working day rarely ends when the laptop closes. Meetings spill into evenings, notifications follow us home and being “always on” has become the new normal.
“Office Politics was born from something I kept seeing around me. People weren’t finishing work anymore, they were simply carrying it into the rest of their lives,” says Bantwini. “I’ve always believed music has the power to create a real transition. It brings people back to the present and reminds us what genuine connection feels like. Living Is Calling isn’t about escaping work. It’s about making space for the moments that make work worthwhile.”
As conversations around the increasingly blurred boundaries between work and life continue, Bantwini and Office Politics are offering a simple counterpoint: perhaps switching off doesn’t need to mean escaping somewhere else. Sometimes it can begin exactly where the working day ends.
Captured in a new launch video, viewers see an everyday office environment shift as corporate employees close their laptops, signaling the end of the working day and the start of the after-work unwind.
