Johannesburg Gets an Early Taste of Miley’s New Album Bass Persuades
The new era arrived in Forest Town before the rest of the world heard it.
Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum global superstar Miley has officially entered a new chapter with the release of her tenth studio album, Bass Persuades, out now via Atlantic Records.
The album also marks a significant shift in how the global star presents herself professionally, with the artist now going simply by Miley.
And Johannesburg got to hear it first.
Johannesburg Got an Early Listen
Before Bass Persuades arrived globally, Warner Music Africa brought Miley’s new album to Johannesburg for an intimate, invite-only listening experience at the Roger Ballen Centre for Photography in Forest Town.
Media, partners, fans and some of the city’s culture-shapers gathered for an early introduction to Miley’s latest era, hearing all 10 tracks from beginning to end.
Rather than a traditional launch filled with performances and spectacle, the Johannesburg experience centred on the music itself.
Guests listened together, exchanged first reactions and quickly began comparing favourites as the room moved from the first play of the album to conversations about which tracks could define the new era.
Among those in attendance were television personalities Chanley Wong and Lee-Roy Wright, DJ and model Ponahalo Mojapelo, and radio personalities Mike Vee, Thabile TTO and Joy Fakude, alongside selected digital creators and fans.
Bass Persuades Is Miley’s New Chapter
Released on September 18, Bass Persuades is Miley’s tenth studio album and follows Something Beautiful.
The project arrives under the simplified Miley name and marks her first album released through Atlantic Records. Current listings confirm the album’s 10-track sequence.
The album brings together familiar collaborators and new creative connections, including Model/Actriz on “Different Religion” and Andrew Wyatt of Miike Snow on “Neon Signs”.
Longtime collaborator Kid Harpoon is also among the album’s production contributors, alongside Maxx Morando and other collaborators.
The result is a project that continues Miley’s habit of moving between pop, rock and more alternative textures rather than sitting comfortably inside one lane.

“Let’s Get Married” Gets the Visual Treatment
Alongside the album’s release, Miley has also dropped the official video for “Let’s Get Married.”
Directed by Mert Alas, the visual was filmed at the iconic Chateau Marmont and features Miley’s fiancé, Maxx Morando.

From Forest Town to Hollywood
Johannesburg’s early listening experience was one of the first local moments around an album that is now making its way into the global conversation.
Miley will continue the Bass Persuades era with two sold-out Hollywood Bowl performances scheduled for October 16 and 18, 2026. The shows follow the album’s release and mark a major live moment for the new chapter.
For Johannesburg, however, the rollout began a little differently — with a room in Forest Town, a full album listen and a group of people hearing Miley’s new direction together before the wider conversation took over.
