BoomFriday: The Underground Sound of South Africa

Every Friday, we flip the script and dive deep into the sonic underworld with BoomFriday. More than just a party, BoomFriday is a weekly musical experience – an open stage where South Africa’s most underground, backroom, and unfiltered DJs step into the light to showcase their sound, their story, and their selection.

Hosted in intimate, dimly lit venues where vibe matters more than velvet ropes, BoomFriday thrives on raw energy and crate-digging culture. It’s about the selectors who live to move the room, whether they’re spinning vinyl, working USBs, or blending genres no algorithm could predict. Expect a rich palette of sound: deep house, dub techno, amapiano flips, baile funk, alternative rap, and unexpected gems pulled straight from the backrooms of Jozi, Cape Town, and beyond.

For music heads chasing rare cuts, BoomFriday is a place to hear tracks you won’t find on mainstream playlists. For dancers, it’s the space to lose yourself completely in rhythm. The crowd is open-minded, the selectors fearless, and the sound system tuned for nothing but heavy vibes.

BoomFriday also connects with the wider house music scene, which is thriving across South Africa. From established clubs like Club Paradise in Johannesburg to Cape Town’s legendary Mødular and outdoor gatherings such as We House Sundays, there are countless spaces where underground culture comes alive.

And because true music lovers know that the right gear makes all the difference, we’re always on the lookout for the best headphones deals to keep the sound pure – whether you’re a DJ building your next set or a fan curating your own late-night playlist.

At BoomFriday, there’s no ego, no pretense – just selectors, sound, and the community that breathes life into the underground.
