RUBICON UNVEILS TIMELESS ELEGANCE AT SAFW

Rubicon Brings African Safari Glamour to SA Fashion Week

Last updated: 4 September 2026

Johannesburg, South Africa — 26 April 2024Rubicon brought relaxation, sophistication and elegance to the runway with its latest collection at South African Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2024, delivering a showcase rooted in South African glamour and the brand’s distinctive design language.

The classic capsule collection combined polished silhouettes with the relaxed spirit of the African safari landscape, creating a lineup that celebrated both Rubicon’s heritage and contemporary fashion.

Rubicon Reimagines Its Signature Style

Rubicon founder and lead designer Hangwani Nengovhela presented a collection that balanced an ethereal aesthetic with practicality.

Inspired by the African safari landscape, Nengovhela looked back through Rubicon’s archive, drawing on the brand’s previous silhouettes, colour palettes and artistic language while introducing new elements of glamour shaped by more than two decades of the label’s history.

Rather than chasing seasonal trends, Nengovhela says Rubicon’s approach is centred on creating pieces that can remain relevant beyond a single season.

“I don’t believe in trends, I believe in classics.”

She believes the most interesting fashion direction is finding ways to make the old feel new again.

“To make the ‘old’ new again while giving a modern twist to traditional silhouettes, fabrics, and style.”

Safari Prints Meet Contemporary Glamour

The Spring/Summer collection featured a selection of ready-to-wear, designer-quality garments that nodded to Rubicon’s established design aesthetic.

Safari-inspired prints and earthy tones formed an important part of the collection, while bolder colour combinations added another dimension to the runway looks.

The collection was designed to offer versatility across different skin tones and body types, while maintaining the sophistication associated with the Rubicon name.

The runway looks were complemented by unique jewellery pieces from Jenna Clifford, adding another layer of luxury to the presentation.

The collection was well received by the South African fashion community, attracting attention from both local industry figures and international fashion audiences.

Rubicon Returns to SA Fashion Week

Speaking about the showcase, Nengovhela said the Rubicon team was excited to return to South African Fashion Week and present its latest collection.

“We were very excited to present our latest collection and participate in SA Fashion Week once more this season. The collection was warmly embraced by South Africa’s fashion elite who were in attendance.”
